I have always admired creative expression. I come from a family of artists, all in their own right. My mama is the truest definition of an artist there is. She has been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember. Probably because she began before I ever was. Growing up when I would visit my Grandparents I would sleep in my mothers childhood room. There hung a beautiful painting. One of a little girl, barefoot and happy, bareback on a sorrel horse with a flaxen mane and tale. They were amongst lush grasses and flowers, bordered by distant aspens and neighbored by the prettiest palomino. I would find myself staring at that painting….wishing with all my heart to be that little girl, to be there, in that peaceful space of beauty, I longed for it. It was the very first piece of art I can remember moving me, speaking to my spirit. I later found out my mom created that painting as a high school senior.
It is because of her that I picked up my very first paint brush. Almost a decade ago, my mom received an ovarian cancer diagnosis. Standing in the kitchen one late cold night, overwhelmed with anxiety and fear, I took out my daughters craft supplies and I started to randomly paint….a cat. I remember crying as I painted, and then, an overwhelming sensation of growing warmth inside. It was as if I was being filled up with my momma’s hugs and kisses, all of her energy, all of her love. It felt so good, the connection to her I was experiencing. It was on a different level, one not tangible person to person, but an interaction of our souls. Ever since, painting has become my spirits preferred language. Creating has become my refuge from pain, from things I cannot change. I have found so much freedom in releasing what does not serve me, and transmuting that into something beautiful.
Jane Morse is an acrylic artist dedicated to painting with a purpose. Jane paints for a cause near and dear to her heart, Jouberts Syndrome (JS). Joubert Syndrome is an incredibly rare disorder and is widely unknown, creating a much smaller funding and research pool than more commonly known conditions.
Jane’s mission is to raise awareness and support affected families and research efforts for JS. This is a very personal mission for Jane as this genetic condition affects her oldest son. A portion of every sale on Jane Morse Art goes to Joubert Syndrome & Related Disorders Foundation to further research on this rare disease. Jane hopes through her audience’s connection with her art and her own JS journey, they are inspired to gain more knowledge, understanding, to make a positive impact in the Joubert Syndrome Family.

It’s 5:55 on Sunday morning, and I am just now ready to attempt to articulate this story. Sunday- seems appropriate. Part of me wanted to
